Pereira is a fairly safe, medium-sized city with welcoming residents. There are very few crimes that occur in the city but unfortunately there are quite a bit of homeless people in the downtown area, and pickpockets are not that uncommon. If travelling in the evening it is recommended to travel by registered taxi and to discuss the price up front.
To enter Colombia, you will need to get the following vaccinations: hepatitis B, malaria and Yellow Fever. A tetanus shot is recommended as well.
